How It Works
Govee Permanent Exterior Lights use RGBIC technology — each individual LED point along the strip is independently addressable, meaning the lights can display multiple different colors at the exact same time across a single run. This is what makes it possible to show flowing animations, alternating holiday patterns, and custom zones all at once, rather than the whole strip being one single color.
The lights are permanently mounted to your home's fascia and eaves — we install them once and they stay there year-round. You change the look entirely from your phone. Snow in December? Switch to Christmas red and green. Summer cookout? Switch to patriotic red, white, and blue. Any day, any mood, with one tap.

The Connector System
Govee's permanent lights use a weatherproof proprietary connector system that allows the strip to navigate your home's roofline cleanly — turning corners, bridging gaps, and connecting to the controller without any exposed wiring. Every joint is sealed against the elements.
Straight Connectors
Join two segments end-to-end along flat runs of fascia or eave.
Corner Connectors (90°)
Allow the strip to turn sharp corners — essential for navigating roofline angles cleanly.
Controller Box
The brain of the system. Connects to your standard outdoor outlet and communicates with the Govee Home app over Wi-Fi.
Extension Cables
Used to bridge sections where the light strip can't run — such as over garage doors or dormers.
End Caps
Seal and protect the open end of the strip from moisture and debris.
PermTrack Channel
Our recommended add-on — a rigid PVC channel that the strip sits inside for the cleanest, most professional look.
App Control
The Govee Home app (free on iOS and Android) is your control center. From there you can change colors instantly, select from over 100 preset scenes, build your own custom patterns with the DIY color tool, set schedules, create lighting zones, and sync everything to music. You can also control the lights hands-free with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant voice commands.
Everything is saved in the app — so switching from your everyday security white to Christmas mode to Halloween mode takes a single tap. No ladder, no wires, no hassle.

A rigid PVC channel system designed specifically for Govee permanent lights — giving every install a clean, built-in look that looks like it came with the house.
What Is PermTrack?
PermTrack is a rigid PVC mounting channel that your Govee lights sit inside of, rather than being attached directly to your home's fascia or soffit. The channel is mounted flush along the roofline first, and the lights then snap cleanly into the channel. The result is a seamless, professional finish that looks like a permanent architectural feature — not a lighting strip that was added on.
Because the channel is paintable, it can be color-matched to your home's trim, soffit, or fascia — making the whole system virtually disappear during the day and come alive at night.

Why We Recommend It
Mounting Govee lights directly to your home without a channel system works — but it leaves the strip exposed along your roofline in a way that reads as "added on." PermTrack changes that entirely. The channel creates a neat housing for the lights, conceals any wiring runs, and gives the whole install a built-in architectural quality that significantly raises the perceived value of the finished product.
It also makes future maintenance easier — the lights can be removed from the channel and reseated without disturbing the mounting, and the channel itself protects the strip from debris and physical impact over time.
